Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System
Description of the Data Center
The Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System
(CODES) is located at the University
of Utah School of Medicine. Through a cooperative agreement
with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),
the Data Center will provide technical assistance with the
collection, maintenance, linkage, and analysis of high quality
data. The Center will also provide expert assistance with
statistics and probabilistic
linkage. The Data Center will function as a clearinghouse for
information regarding the 1991 Utah linked Crash Data Set. The
elements included in the data
dictionary were approved by the CODES Advisory Committee for
public release.
1991 Final Report
A synopsis of our 1991 Final
Report to NHTSA gives the most important results of our
analysis of 1991 Utah data. This report gives an overview of the
problem we addressed, the data sources we used, the quality of
this data, an outline of the linkage process, a listing of the
publications that came from this, an outline of the statistical
procedures used and a discussion.
1996 Linked Data Set
The 1996 linked data set is available for
you to look at. You will be able to perform basic statistical
procedures such as frequency tables, cross tabulations and
descriptive statistics to allow you to obtain a wide variety of
information from this data.
