The statewide
occupant belt use is shown in Figure
9.01. Eighty-seven percent (87%) of
occupants involved in a crash reported
using a belt, while 76% of the
injured occupants reported using a belt.
Forty percent (40%) of the fatalities
were recorded as using a belt.
Unbelted occupants were 10 times more
likely to sustain a fatal injury than
belted occupants.
Table 9.01 contains the self-reported
belt use of occupants by age and
county. Davis County had the
highest percentage of belt use (90%),
while Sanpete had the lowest percentage
of belt use (70%).
