Crashes involving young
drivers were highest for after school hours (2 PM
to 5 PM) and had a slight peak for
travelling to school (7AM). There were four peaks
in fatal young driver crashes at 1 PM, 5 PM, 8 PM
and 11 PM.
The leading months for young driver crashes were
October, December and January (Table 6.03). May,
June and October had the highest rates of young
driver injury crashes. The highest rate per day
of young driver fatal crashes was in December. In
fact, December had double the yearly rate per day
of young driver fatal crashes.
