Pedestrian
crashes and injury crashes peaked during
the late afternoon and early
evening (3 PM to 7 PM). Fatal
pedestrian crashes occurred most often in
the evening from 6 PM to 10 PM.
Except for February all months had
similar rates of pedestrian crashes. May
and June had the highest rate of
pedestrian injury crashes. June
through September had the greatest number
of fatal pedestrian crashes. In
fact, 56% of all fatal pedestrian crashes
occurred between Memorial Day and Labor
Day. The rate of fatal pedestrian
crashes per day between Memorial Day and
Labor Day was 0.19 which is double the
yearly rate of 0.09.
